Today ( May 31 2567) time 9:10 a.m. at Mövenpick BDMS Wellness Resort Bangkok, Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin preside over the opening of the seminar on “Thailand-US Trade and Investment Conference 2024: “Building on a Longstanding Partnership” organized by the Thai Chamber of Commerce and the American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand ( The American Chamber of Commerce – AMCHAM) and the United States Chamber of Commerce ( the US Chamber of Commerce – USCC) at Washington.
PM thanked the long-standing partnership between two side, along with thanks for the policy advice
which the PM has brought the concept “ Five to Thrive” which AMCHAM recommends
which he intended to tell international form since I took administration.
Good time to invest in Thailand
He told the audiences that “Thailand is open for business, and there is no better time to invest in Thailand”. Cooperation to entrepreneurs in worldwide has enabled the government to make progress in revitalizing the economy. They included a support for ease -of-doing-business through legal amendment. which plans the country to be a hub in 8 main sectors including tourism, medical and health, agriculture and food, aviation, logistics, future vehicles, digital economy and finance.
PM has been mentioned the phrase “ Trade flies the flag” with US businessmen at New York
which reflects the cooperation between the two countries very well.
Thailand is the first country in Asia to have a the Treaty of Amity and Commerce with the US in 1833.
Over the past two centuries economic relations between two countries have been strong and have continued to grow in every dimension of bilateral cooperation. There is hardly any dimension in which Thailand does not cooperate with the United States.
Greater cooperation of the Thailand–USeconomic partnership.
PM sees a greater picture of corporation while he mentioned the vision “Ignite Thailand” to connect with the Thai – US economic partnership. They include as below.
- 1) Logistics: With the strategic location of Thailand, the government aims to be a hub for connectivity in Southeast Asia and beyond. The government is implementing the Landbridge project and when combined with the new Southern Economic Corridor It will play an important role in linking trade and logistics routes from the Pacific Ocean to the Indian Ocean. Project help to improve land transport connectivity and offers opportunities with the new geopolitical landscape.
- 2) Aviation: Thailand aims to be an aviation hub for both passengers and cargo. The government is rushing to build a new airport in nationwide. Bangkok airport has undergone a major enhancement which will increase the total passenger capacity from 60 million to 150 million.
“In addition, there is a plan to build Lanna International Airport in the north and Andaman International Airport in the south. The plan also includes a development for passenger terminal for sea aircraft ( Sea Plane) for alternation transportation. In terms of green change Thailand is developing sustainable aviation fuels ( SAF) using available raw materials combined with US knowledge. Therefore. We propose to invite US businessmen. Take advantage of these opportunities.”
- 3) Digital: Thanks to 5G digital infrastructure and the population that uses digital technology, the government aims to upgrade Thailand as a center of the digital economy in the region. The US can come to join in supporting in various areas such as AI, Data Center, intelligent digital ecosystem and infrastructure as well as a development labor skills to support high technology industries.
- 4) Future vehicles:Sustainability remains a key agenda for the government. The green transition is one of the most ambitious goals in Southeast Asia. The government has laid out a comprehensive plan to enable renewable energy generation. 50% by the year 2040. Thailand aims to be the automotive of the future. Especially the entire industry chain system of EV cars. PM persuade the US investors to invest and support new technology. Thailand is exploring green hydrogen, battery storage solutions, carbon capture, utilization & storage: CCUS) and a small modular nuclear power plant ( Small Modular Reactor: SMR) to help make production more environmentally friendly.
- 5) Tourism: Promoting people-to-people exchanges is an investment in maintaining strong future relations. Ignite Tourism Thailand 2025 will elevate Thailand to a world-class tourism destination. The government is improving the visa application system to make traveling into the country easier. Increase flexibility for both tourists and operators.
“Thailand is open and ready to be a reliable economic partner of the US. A new chapter in the Thai – US economic partnership including environmentally friendly and looking to the future which is a challenging of Thailand .
By the end PM said the vision for the future of Thailand conform to recommendations “ Five to Thrive”. He asks US investors to join Thailand turning this shared vision into action. The PM believes that with everyone’s support will help take the Thai – US economic partnership to the next step. The government is ready to listen and work together. As the PM always said that what should be done, will be done.
