Myanmar canceled its plan of aircraft landing at Mae Sot airport between April 8-9

The Myanmar government canceled a request for permission for its aircraft to land at the Mae Sot airport, Tak province between April 8-9.

The Thai Foreign Affair Ministry said in a press conference that the Myanmar government has already canceled a request for permission from the Thai government for its aircraft from Yangon-Mae Sot route to land at Mae Sot airport, Tak province between April 8-9.

The ministry reported that the Myanmar government has requested the Thai Foreign Affairs Ministry on Sunday evening (April 6 ) to ask for permission for its aircraft to land at Mae Sot airport  between April 7-9.

The National Security Commission organized a meeting and agreed to allow for a permission on humanitarian reasons. 

A Myanmar commercial airline aircraft landed at Mae Sot airport last night (April 7), and later departed. The Myanmar government also canceled a request for its aircraft to land at the airport between April 8-9.” The Thai Foreign Affair Ministry announced this in a press conference. 

The Thai government will closely monitor the situation in Myanmar and a meeting among concerned agencies will be held on Tuesday (April 9) at the Government House. 

 The source said Myanmar government has requested permission from the Thai government for its aircraft to land at Mae Sot airport, Tak province to pick up its senior military officers, who escaped from Myawaddy, which was seized by the opposition last night.

Myawaddy, which was the largest government-controlled military camp in Myanmar, is located across the border from Mae Sot district in Thailand.

The Myanmar opposition, which includes soldiers from the Karen National Union (KNU) and the People’s Defence Force (PDF), has seized Myawaddy after about four days of drastic fighting.

Government Spokesman Chai Wachronke said the Thai government supports assistance to all conflict parties based on a peaceful solution and conform to international guidelines.

He confirmed that the Myanmar aircraft which landed at Mae Sot airport was a commercial airline. There is not any military purpose and without military weapons and not a special mission.
